Living up here in North LA it’s not easy finding a local spot that offers that nice forest look as well as rocky mountains. For engagement sessions I really try to stay away from the average park, although there are a couple I really like. For Traci and Ernesto we chose to do a CORRIGANVILLE ENGAGEMENT. CORRIGANVILLE is this small little spot of awesome out in Simi Valley. It used to be a movie ranch for old Ronald Reagan westerns, The Lone Ranger and Fort Apache. Although the sets are gone you can still see the remnants of those days scattered throughout. What I absolutely love about CORRIGANVILLE is that it offers something nowhere else does ( without a SUPER long road trip ) beautiful wild greenery and rock mountains you can scale. The other added bonus is that the valley CORRIGANVILLE opens to the west so you get the full force of golden hour without too many things blocking it.

Now I have a set path I like to take when I shoot here because it flows so good. I start far away, move in close once couples are comfy and finally shoot from afar again when we want those epic wider shots. One thing many people don’t know about me is that I’m a HUGE film score fan, more so than any other genre. 95% of my day I have some score in my head watching everything unfold to it. I remember fairly good what was in my head during this shoot and it was was Vitamin String Quartets version of Motion Picture Soundtrack. I really dig older Radiohead and when I heard this on WestWorld it quickly became one of favorites.

Traci and Ernesto absolutely nailed their CORRIGANVILLE ENGAGEMENT. We had a ton to go home with but down below are some of my favorites. Cheers to a kick ass 2019!
