THE MUCKENTHALER WEDDING | Shetal + Duran

Oh shit, so this was one of those weddings where when you wrap up the night you leave with a big ass grin on your face. Shetal and Duran’s MUCKENTHALER WEDDING was really dope. I used to hang out a lot in Fullerton when I was younger but had never heard of THE MUCKENTHALER. It’s a pretty interesting center. They host art galleries, performance arts, festivals and art education. When you walk in it’s like this really rad condensed version of creativity at every corner, and in my opinion a fucking fantastic venue to have a wedding at, not just for the cool areas around THE MUCKENTHALER but also because the inspiration it pulls out of you.

On a quick side note – Most everyone know’s how I feel about large wedding parties. While I absolutely don’t mind and have no problem rocking a 24 person wedding party on any given date, it was awesome when I found out Shetal and Duran were having just one MOH and one BM. I think a lot of couples underestimate the power of leaving the zillion bridesmaids and groomsmen out of the picture so they can party. I have turned down many of my friends who have asked me to be a groomsman, not because I’m a dick but because I know first hand how many times I have seen one who wished they could simply celebrate with them and not be a part of the crazy wedding money machine that through the years have convinced brides and grooms that a wedding party is a MUST. It’s crazy. So crazy in fact, last year I had 32 people in one and not only do parties that large take EXTRA PLANNING because of the incredible hit a timeline will get but it is in all essence unnecessary. By keeping wedding parties to a minimum you gain the EXTRAORDINARY element of having more time to rock dope pictures, MORE time to hang out at cocktail hour and party AND WAY LESS STRESS getting prep done. There is a good reason celebrities don’t do large wedding parties and it has nothing to do with having friends you love and everything to do with owning your wedding day.

With all that said though, I’m not going to be the one to force my opinions. I just want everyone to have a little food for thought when planning a day with that many moving parts. Which so elegantly leads me into Shetal and Duran’s MUCKENTHALER WEDDING. Four total in the wedding party, hundreds of friends and family. We were able to rock some really rad images, were ahead of schedule and they got to party all night with their loved ones. No one was running behind, or drunk at 11am, we handled our business and got drunk later haha. It was a perfect wedding and not because Shetal and Duran were awesome but because when you remove the element of rushing and stress and still be able to get above and beyond all the images you want AND not have to keep a couple out of cocktail hour…it’s everything I would have wanted for my own wedding.
