Where I live places to go so kids can have fun are slim. So we usually head over to Underwood Farms to grab some fresh veggies and let the kids play. What I didn’t know is that hidden behind Underwood was what would be Sara and Kevins WALNUT GROVE WEDDING location.

This spot was a true hidden gem. It’s not big by any stretch of the imagination and is exclusively outdoors but the ceremonies are done in the middle of the walnut grove and the reception area takes on the look of a rustic cobblestone yard, it reminded me of being in old Europe for some reason. Really cool.

In what was probably the most unexpected thing to have happen to me at a wedding. Sara’s father pulled two hand made puppets out of a duffle bag during the speeches and proceeded to recount their interactions through childhood. While no doubt some felt a little embarrassed, I thought it was beautiful. Not because of the craftsmanship that went into the puppets or because a lot was said about how Sara always dreamed of this day. But because it was the only way her father could truly convey in words to her how he felt.

Sometimes we have to think outside the box to be able to find those ways to communicate, for him this was that way…and it was fucking beautiful.

Two more things I want to mention before I wrap it up. First Sriracha farms their peppers from here and we were able to get deep into the pepper field for a fun creative. Second when the sun starts to set you get about 15 minutes of the most jaw dropping golden hour light directly through Walnut grove.
