Earlier this month I once again was fortunate enough to shoot for Elena and Brian and their beautiful little daughter Amelie. Aside from having the awesome name ( she was named after one of my favorite movie characters ) their daughter is a rock star.
We started out on the hill above Bee Canyon park a couple hours before sunset and Amelie was awesome. She was so interested in the balloons and bubbles I brought that it seemed like a cake walk haha. This park is so cool because there's different tiers to it. Down at the bottom theres wild flowers and small trails and as you work your way up you discover little bridges, lemon trees, a stream ( thats dry :( ) and then a cool hill with a nice big tree up top. One of the shots I really wanted to get was a compliment to an earlier maternity shoot I did with them.
I loved the idea of connecting the pictures and hopefully as time goes on I can continue doing so. This would make for a fantastic collection for them. When I planned for that first shoot I was really hoping our relationship would be strong and that we had good chemistry. My hopes came true and because of that I have the building blocks now to a collection that when put together shows the constant connection of love and communication through being parents and growing up.
We made our down through the park and there's this one small patch of yellow flowers that had these awesome highlights that were made by the sun peaking through the trees. It looked somewhat like a scene one would see in that movie Legend. I was really diggin it and we had to move fast because the sun was on the decent. Luckily when it skunked the first patch it moved down lo enough to create an equally awesome patch about 10 feet in front of it.
The above shots I just fell in love with. The mix of California sun and the warmth of the colors all build up to compliment how care free and happy Amelie is. I wanted to get a moment like this and was so happy I did. The instant I took it I knew it would be my favorite.
Before we left Elena had a great idea to have Amelie resting on her legs. Similar to a superman but instead of using the feet Amelie would laying across the shins. Elena wore these teal/turquoise pants that just rocked it as a complimentary color of the salmon dress of Amelie. These colors played off so well against each other I'm actually going to reccomend it in the future for other clients.
In the end we all had a great time. Mom and dad were awesome, Amelie was perfect and I was happy. The perfect storm for a excellent day of pictures.
